CHIEF DEPUTY MARENA JONES

The Chief Deputy is responsible for the daily operations of the Sheriff's Department. Planning, organizing, implementation, to administer and evaluate day to day operations. Ensuring continuous leadership and consistent administrative procedures within the department. Assuming the duties, responsibilities and authority of the Sheriff in the Sheriff's absence.

The Chief Deputy is accountable to the Sheriff.

 ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT TO SHERIFF MAGSBY

The Administrative Assistant with the Coahoma County Sheriff's Department is primarily responsible for performing all clerical duties associated with the Sheriff and other personnel when authorized. The Administrative Assistant is in charge of all personnel, payroll and scheduling of appointments for the Sheriff. Duties such as travel arrangements, monitoring department budgets, office equipment maintenance and research are also included in the duty list. The Administrative Assistant is the citizens link to the Sheriff at the Coahoma County Court House. Mrs. Carol Dixon has been employed with the Coahoma County Sheriff's office since January 01, 2018. 

Mrs. Dixon also serves as Public Information Officer (PIO)

The Public Affairs Office is the community contact point for the Sheriff’s Office. This is the department that handles news media inquiries and makes routine announcements to the media about items of interest involving the Sheriff’s Office. The Public Information Officer reports directly to the Sheriff.

OFFICE MANAGER

Liaison between Sheriff's Office and other county offices within the Courthouse, responsible for the service of court ordered legal documents and orders to include summons, subpoenas, and other civil process issued by the justice court, chancery court, youth court and circuit court, schedules and manages and coordinates courtroom calendars for meeting, depositions etc., processes service of property tax notifications, answers phone calls and directs visitors to appropriate departments for maximum efficiency, monthly NIBRS (National Incident Based Reporting), provides Notary services to all county departments, supervises, and oversees, the maintaining of the Sheriff's department records and filing systems within the Courthouse, oversees general office operations and activities such as servicing and maintenance of the telephones, faxes, copiers, and equipment and also maintains and orders all office and departmental supplies and forms.

Communicates Chief Deputy's instructions or desires to various individuals and/or departments, receives and screens telephone calls, letters, and/or visitors, answers routine questions and furnishes information as appropriate, schedules appointments and manages an active calendar for meetings, conferences, and travel appointments as directed, maintains working schedule of deputies and processes payroll, locates police reports and other reports for the public, performs other tasks that may be asked or directed by Chief Deputy

Administrative Assistant to Warden

Receives all visitors and incoming calls to the Warden. resolves and/or assists in resolving a variety of concerns by staff and/or visitors, along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and is performed on a regular and recurring basis, update offender housing daily to reflect changes such as new, transferred and/or discharged offenders, add all newly arrived offenders, and delete any offenders no longer at the facility, process payroll, assist in creating work schedule for detention officers, type memos, order office and cleaning supplies for facility as needed, make doctor appointments for offenders who have completed the Request for Medical Attention, other duties as required by Warden
