On Thursday, July 29, 2010, Friars Point Package Store owner, Gerald Simmons, was assaulted and robbed in his business.

Mr. Simmons sustained various head injuries and was air lifted to the Elvis Presley Trauma Center (The Med) in Memphis, TN.

Investigation by the Coahoma County Sheriff’s Department lead to the arrest of :

Brymon Hamp, Age 25, 455 Page St. Clarksdale, MS.

Jerry Carr, Age 22, LaPaula Villa 4-A, Friars Point, MS.

Both suspects are in custody and charged with Aggravated Assault and Robbery. Bond is set at 1.5 million dollars each.
